FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
October 15, 2026
Galveston – Today, in a massive show of support from law enforcement, the Mayes Middleton Campaign released the endorsement of 31 local police associations (POAs), including those in every one of the largest 10 cities in Texas. These 31 POAs represent officers in departments responsible for the public safety of over 11 million Texas citizens.
The Texas Municipal Police Association, Texas State Lodge - Fraternal Order of Police, and Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, also endorsing Middleton, cumulatively represent over 81,000 police officers across Texas. Sen. Middleton was endorsed by the Texas Sheriff’s Regional Alliance, an alliance of 16 Texas sheriffs committed to promoting and advocating for responsible policies that strengthen communities and curb crime in Texas.
Also endorsing Middleton are sheriff and law enforcement associations in Dallas, Tarrant, Harris, and Montgomery counties. The endorsements include the Dallas Police Association, Garland Police Association, Mesquite Police Association, Richardson Police Officers Association, and Dallas County Sheriff’s Association, all in the home county of Sen. Middleton’s opponent.
Sen. Middleton said, “I’m incredibly honored by this local law enforcement support, because these are the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe from hardened criminals. To all of our law enforcement in our great state, thank you, and I’ve got your back."
These endorsements underscore a great contrast between Mayes’ support for law enforcement and his opponent’s soft-on-crime approach.“When it was time to stand with law enforcement against defunding the police, my opponent instead stood with the lawless mob. My opponent even donated to an anti-law enforcement group that said jails are racist and advocates for no cash bail for violent criminals,” Middleton continued.
