Ethics and Transparency

Mayes has been working tirelessly with Commissioners Court in Chambers County to pass ethics rules, which prohibit government officials from profiting off the taxpayer.

Immigration Enforcement

The security of our state, its citizens, and its economy should be our government’s #1 priority. We need to enforce immigration laws and secure our border.

Property Tax Relief

It is essential that we stop runaway growth in Texas’ property tax system, eventually abolishing such taxes, because Texans don’t need to be paying rent to the government.

Very sad day in San Leon with the loss of Kelly Abbitt. Kelly was a great man who loved his community and never hesitated to serve it (including as honorary Mayor). It didn’t matter what kind of help someone needed, from taking care of a leaky roof to driving someone to the doctor, he gave back so freely and taught us all what neighbor helping neighbor is all about. Prayers for Jan and the whole Abbitt family. ...

Block walking in La Marque and I'm reminded how awesome our community is, the Ramirez family invited me into their home to visit and have included me, my family, and our campaign in their prayers. They also gave our boys a sing along bible book and homemade honey. Made my day a whole lot brighter after getting eaten up by mosquitoes! ...

Very disappointed to hear how Baytown is wasting thousands of dollars of our taxpayer money on lawyers to deny cancer treatment coverage to a firefighter. Baytown wants to continue forcibly annexing other areas when they won’t take care of one of the most basic functions of government - public safety and specifically firefighters. Annexing other areas will only make the problem worse and if they treat firefighters this way, what can we expect as taxpayers? ...

Less gummint is always better.

Disgusting!

WTF! This is getting crazy!

A cheaper cancer treatment is cannabis but governor Abbott doesn't approve. Even though a majority of the US has access and the government holds multiple patents on the plants compounds

I'm thinking they'll seriously regret this decision Godspeed to our firefighters saving lives, structures, etc....

Baytown has taken this out of the Houston history book.

Have you spoken with Briscoe Cain about this??

Thanks for caring and your support

It’s very sad ! Thank you Mayes for Caring about people👍🏻

So true. Our police officer and firefighters should be given the same respect as our Military. These people are America’s front line defense. When government funds are wasted it impacts every citizen in the area. This is one time when I would say Fight City Hall. Let your voices be heard. It is the first way you can change your city after the ballot box! Mayes Middleton always fights for what is right!

Typical Baytown drama. The city government takes care of itself instead of the city and the people, and they prove it time and time again.

Terrible

Tragic. Firefighters, educators, police officers all getting the shaft.

I agree with you. Happen to see it on the news last night. I can’t believe the city is fighting this.

This is so sad. Praying they lose

Matt Hartleib, what do you think about this?

A shameful way to treat those who serve us!!!

When cancer knocks on their door, and it will, they’ll sing a diff song!!!

This is a sad commentary on Baytown city officials! Those that serve an protect need to know that are supported by all! God bless this firefighter!🙏💞🇺🇸😢

Very sad !!

How can the ‘great city fathers’ look at themselves in a mirror and know what they are doing to one of their own. Thank you Mayes for noting what is wrong.

I saw this last night on the news and it seems to me, they are spending way more to fight this than it would cost to cover it. So sad. So ridiculous!

If I were that Fireman, My attorney would be filing federal charges against them.As soon as they find out that they will have a felony on their record and that they could be spending up to 11 yrs in prison and/or pay a fine of up to $350,000.00 for violating these two federal laws. Title18 U.S.C. Section 241; Conspiracy Against Rights and Section 242; Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law. The will be scrambling to get the charges dropped against them but I wouldn't drop the charges unless they dropped the lawsuit against me.

Mayes Middleton, I hope you didn’t use only this article as your due diligence before making this post. We all know that media tends to twist and manipulate the facts. There are always two sides to the story.

I agree.. Shameful !
